Day 24: "dang wo men zai yi kuai"! - when we are together @ Sunday, October 10, 2010
When we are together! We can do a lot of things. We can have fun, or we can also have a get together and have barbecue. Barbecue, first thought that came into my mind was, the aftermath of the event. It is not going to be pretty. Neither is the starting of the fire. As I have experienced this in almost all of the barbecue outings I went to, therefore, I am not that looking forward to it. The barbecue here is a whole new experience for me, or maybe for all of us. For starters, the barbecue pit is different. It is portable and smaller in size. The way they start up the fire for BBQ is not what we do back in Singapore. Over here they uses twig to get the fire started and carry on with charcoal. What really fascinate me is the spices they put on the meat and the variety of food available to be barbecued. Cabbage can even be barbecued. Can you imagine that? But it is true.

Reflection:
Although it is the students who organized the barbecue gathering, it is not necessarily for them to know how to barbecue. When I was chatting with a few of them, one of the students told me that this was the first time coming to park and barbecue. I was taken aback at first; however, I then realized the fact that, Wuhan, China is a really big province. Although, some of them are not professionals in “BBQ-ing”, I think that is the thought that counts. They are very willing to have fun with you, and have the mindset of if you want to enjoy then enjoy together.
