Day 15 - busy schedule @ Thursday, September 30, 2010
As the title suggest, we are having a tight schedule now. OK maybe not that tight, but I believe, some of us here are feeling the heat and knows that we are required to step on it and do our work. We have no time to spare, two of the assignments are just round the corner, in fact, and there is one presentation tomorrow. No need to fret, we have done the necessary PowerPoint slides, so it should still be smooth sailing for us currently.
WISCO – Wuhan Iron and Steel Corp, was started in 1955, and production commenced in 13 September 1958. It is one of the backbone enterprises under the leadership of the Central government and the State Council. Why am I telling you this, my class and I today went to visit a steel mill factory, in other words, we went to WISCO for an industrial visit. We had a brief walkthrough of part of the factory. The visit was like a physics science lesson coming to life. Lesson 334 – how to extract iron from an iron ore. This may have no linkage to what we are doing at the moment. However, if one looks at it in a different light, there are areas whereby, what I am learning in my course; logistics management would be of use to this industry.
Reflection:
Being in a foreign land for 15 days, it is not easy, not to miss home, miss our homeland. It is not the living conditions of the hostel that irks me, it is not being able to do what you want at the comfort of your own home that makes one misses home. Many a times, I would wonder, what do the local students feel, having to leave their own home and come and leave in the hostel of the University to study and compete with other students. The pressure and stress is definitely intense.
