Day 14 - happy birthday number 2! @ Tuesday, September 28, 2010
Plans are made, the deal is sealed, everything is where they should be, but wait…where is the birthday boy? Oh there he is…. Happy birthday to you …. Happy birthday to Zhen Zhao. It is another celebration for our fellow OIP friend. This is what friends are for, isn’t it? It is a great experience, as we went back to the local restaurant where we had our lunch previously – greenery.

Reflection:
While celebrating Zhen Zhao’s birthday today, I found out something rather interesting. It would be the tradition of how the local students pass gifts to their friends. In Singapore, we give presents to friends face to face, sometimes; taking pictures are also part of the “procedure”. For the locals here, they celebrate a friend’s birthday. They would then secretly drop the gifts into the friend’s hostel and walk off. Upon asking the reason behind this, is because, they feel kind of shy giving presents to friends face to face. So I believe this is quite a peculiar or I should say a unique way of presenting gifts to friends on their birthdays.
